How To Plan -- It's Important

This is not leisure reading if you want a direction
to start a successful online business. This is an
exercise you need to do if you plan to get any
benefit from it. I assure you that, even if you just do
the exercises and never follow through, you'll get
significant benefit from it.

Stressout. Info-overload. Technophobia. Burn-out.
No direction.

Any of those words ring a bell? That's what I
hear most of the time.

One question that has come up in my emails most
of the time seems to always come in two parts:

1. How do I learn this stuff, it's so
technical, and...

2. I barely have time to keep up with what
I already have on my plate.

Choose what you like and TAKE ACTION.

Yes, I'm serious.

You need a direction ... a PLAN.

I know it's hard to do that because normally
work can't be fun ... or can it? I'll tell you it
can be fun if you KNOW HOW TO 'work' on it.

First thing first -- What's your MAIN GOAL
to make money online?

When you list the goal, describe it. Be
specific about what you want. It's next to
impossible to achieve something without
knowing what it is that you want.

(Example: I want to make money online is
because I want to quit my job and stay
home with my kids when they're growing up)

Improve Your Traffic From Google Adwords

One of the best ways to generate targeted instant
traffic is by using Google Adwords. It's a
pay-per-click search engine advertising tool. If
you're totally new to what I'm saying, just go to
Google Adwords official site to read more at
www.google.com/adwords

Before you want to take my words for what I'm going to
share, I want to reassure you that I know and I have
been using this tool. I've used Google Adwords to
attract tens of thousands of traffic to several of my
online niche websites since 2003. You know, you can
get a lot of information and tips on the internet. But
some of them who teach you might have no clue how
to do it but just 'copy' from other people's book base
on theories, NOT real-life experience.

It's very important that you're bidding on the
keywords correctly to save money and also, attract the
targeted traffic to your website. If you did not know,
there are 4 ways how you can instruct your keywords to
appear when someone is searching for them.

Broad Match (by default)
"Broad match" means that ads for the keyword 'tennis shoes'
would be triggered by search terms containing the words
tennis and shoes regardless of their position. So an
ad could appear next to search results for free tennis
worn shoes or tennis shoes by Nike. Ads will also
automatically show for such expanded keyword matches
as plurals and relevant variations.

Phrase Match
By putting quotation marks around a keyword phrase
"tennis shoes" ads appear on searches with tennis
followed by shoes. Now we see all the searches for
tennis shoes, or any other possible combination. But
we would not reach people who type tennis worn shoes
or tennis game and shoes – the ad does not appear if the
search contains any other terms between tennis and shoes.

Exact Match
By adding brackets around a keyword [tennis shoes] you
are specifying an exact match: your ad appears
only when someone searches for the phrase tennis shoes
without any other words before or after, and with tennis
and shoes only in that order. This type of matching
is especially recommended for single-word keywords.

Negative Match
We can also use negative matching to eliminate certain
searches that may be irrelevant. To do this, we enter
keywords tennis shoes and added a -free, -pictures.
This gives us all those searching for tennis shoes and
all word combinations including tennis shoes, but not
those who searched for free tennis shoes or
tennis shoes pictures.

So what's the point?

If you want to get the best result when advertising
via Google Adwords, using the Exact Match will gives
you the best result. However, you'll get less traffic.

If you want to attract a lot of traffic, use Broad
Match but the quality of the traffic will suffer
because you are going to attract untargeted traffic.

My suggestion?

Use Exact Match and Phrase Match. The way to overcome
the 'little traffic' problem is to bid for MORE KEYWORDS.
So instead of using 200 keywords to bid, crack your
head to think of 400 keywords. Problem solved.

It's wasting money to attract a lot of traffic but not
targeted because it's difficult to monetize untargeted
traffic to profit.

A Search Engine Strategy - Use Or Avoid It?

One of the strategies that website owners use to get a
high rank or to get indexed quickly in the search
engines, for their new websites, is to buy expired
domain names.

Basically, an expired domain name is a domain name
that was not renewed by the previous owner. When it's
expired, you have the right to buy it.

You see, an expired domain is good for search engine
strategies because some of the expired domain names
are already indexed in the search engines
(Like Yahoo.com or Google.com). If you’re lucky, that
domain name might have already ranked with a high
position in the search engine for certain keywords.

Other than that, some expired domain names have
existing 'backlinks' from other websites to it. This
will definitely help to increase the search engine
ranking. So if you buy a domain name before it gets
'kicked out' from the search engine, your webpage will
be indexed faster.

If you're confused about what 'getting indexed' means,
don't worry.

Let me explain. Basically, when you buy a new domain
name and set up the website, your website is not in
the search engines yet. You see, there are millions of
websites in the search engines. It takes time for the
search engines to find your websites. The first thing
you need to have before getting a high rank in a
search engine for certain keywords is you must get
'indexed'.

But don't be fooled with this simple strategy.

I want to share with you my recent experience so that
you will not fall for my same mistake.

2 weeks ago, I bought an expired domain name that was
already indexed in Yahoo.com.

Yes, I confirmed that it was already indexed.

Don’t know how to confirm it?

You can do that by going to www.Yahoo.com and type in
the domain name for the search term. So if I want to
know whether www.internetmarketing-tactics.com is
already indexed or not, I'll just go to Yahoo.com and
search for "internetmarketing-tactics.com".

So theoretically, when I go live with my websites
using this new expired domain name that I've just
bought, my websites will be indexed by the search
engine faster than a using a brand new domain name.

Make sense? Good.

2 weeks passed. My new site was not indexed by the
search engines – AT ALL.

I was puzzled. How can this happen?

I mean, that domain name had already been indexed
in the search engine. In another words, it already
existed in the search engines!

Finally, I figured out what could have gone wrong
that time.

Yeah, it could be an expired domain that had already
been indexed by the search engine.

But, I don't know the history of that expired domain
name. There's a possibility that it had expired and
was not renewed, even though the domain name is
already indexed, because ...

It might be a banned domain.

I have no clue what the previous owner might have done
to upset the search engines, but once a domain name is
banned, it will no longer appear.

Stay away from banned domain names. It'll take a lot
of work and effort to get them unbanned.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that using expired
domain names do not work. It works but you must be
careful and really understand the system first.

What's the lesson here?

Don't follow any internet marketing strategies
blindly. Some of those marketers teaching all sorts of
strategies might not even have a clue whether they are
workable or not. The best method is to always do your
own testing and further research first. At the end of
the day, it's your responsibility to be successful.
