Education is an advantage-- No education? It's talking crap.
There are so many directions going on online, no wonder most people get a mix of ideas. With the right internet marketing education, that person will be on his way to riches. With no education, that person is talking crap.
What do you understand of the term, 'e-community'?
I'm sure there are a lot of people who like to have their own e-community. But if you dig a level deeper and them what IS an e-community that they'd like to establish, most are clueless. They'll probably give you an answer like, "You know, a site like Myspace.com."
That's what I mean of no direction talking.
With buzzes going on, most people get the wrong ideas and don't want to miss out on whatever the latest hype (ahem, I mean trend) out there.
For instance, the person who wishes to set up the next MySpace.com, I'm not sure where he gets that kind of idea. Like I said, most people don't understand terms that are loosely being used. So even if you have a darn Myspace.com site, so what's next?
Are you going to have an e-community? No. You have a site. End of the story. By the way, Myspace.com type of site, it's a medium for creating an e-community platform which can be turned into an e-community. But this does not means IT IS an e-community unless you know how to 'structure' one.
Well, let me explain what an e-community is. And by the way, I could be wrong – some other marketers will probably define it other way. Besides, I don't claim myself as an e-community guru. See my point of a mix bag of ideas that create confusions?
An e-community is basically an online 'place' where common interest people hang out there. This 'place' is basically a site that can be in any sort of form but represents the first rule. Doesn't matter if they hang out because they're absorbing the site's content like ivillage.com or reading a blog.
e-Community is almost everywhere – since long time ago but it wasn't being brought out as a dialogue in the internet marketing world. Fortune 500 companies have been using them – Google, Intel, health companies and so on. They create communities. They HAVE communities. If you're involved with stock trading and financial stuff, you would be aware of www.fool.com. That site creates an e-community of it's own but it doesn't have a Mypace.com thingy. People 'hang out' there. By the way, this is not a course about e-community and I'm not creating any so don't prompt me for questions because it can never be answered on a single blog post.
And besides, some cheap marketers (who I know) will 'steal' my content here, remove my name and publish on their blog with their 'personal touch' to impress their readers with this new content anyway. How I know? Easy, my subscribers tell me - it's ain't a big world in the internet marketing niche, you know. I hope these copycat marketers get a lot of questions.
"I want to create a membership site and generate passive income each month."
Sounds familiar?
So now, ask him what he understands about a membership site. He'll probably tell you, "You know, a membership site is where customers pay each month to access the monthly content on a site."
I mean, I get this question all the time about Niche Marketing 2.0 ™ System:
"Does your system allow me to create a membership site?"
Well, it really depends what you define a 'membership site' is, isn't it? Any sites including blogs CAN have a membership site model depending on how you want it to be.
Here's the thing – a membership site is none other than a username and password for the user. If it's a paid membership, then yeah, you generate income each month.
To me, a membership site is simply an 'income generator' (if it's a paid one) and nothing fancier. That's it. I don't care how you want to setup your content. Heck, you might not even have a site for a membership site! The 'content' could be sending out 2 emails a month that include some sort of information that the subscribers want to pay for.
Or it could be a blog that they pay to read the content you post there.
Who knows what kind of crazy idea you have that people are willing to pay for each month.
Do you see where I'm getting? Without the right education, you'll be more confused everyday with fancy terms being thrown left and right.
And the worst is, that person THINKS he knows what he doesn't, like wanting to setup a membership site or an e-community without knowing what it is. Or no business model.
That is today's rant. Hope you enjoyed, otherwise, you would have wasted 10 minutes of your time reading on Sunday.
If you have been reading the "Sunday Email" series, I'll always ask for your favor to leave a Comment if you find value of what you've read. It'll be most appreciated because I read all of them personally. (smile)
And yeah, sometimes it upsets the reader because the truth can be... hurtful.
