The Secret To My Autopilot Income

I want to share with you what I taught recently.

I was in Atlanta for 5 days to speak at my good friend, Matt Bacak's seminar.



Something about Matt – I didn't know him as well as today until I've spent 5 days with him and overnight at his mansion. Many people claimed to be internet marketing gurus and tell the world how rich they are. The different from them and Matt is this- Matt does make millions from the internet and living it. I mean, he got his own private plane and a hangar and I've visited his 6,000-feet (or bigger) office. With his riches, many might think he's arrogant but it's actually the other way round- he's a humble dude. Also, Matt definitely knows how to take care of his buddies.

(I might be able to record a video interviewing him to get some awesome content how he make so much money and pick on his brain. No promise, but I'll do my best.)

Other than having lots of fun meeting with the attendees, my current subscribers and sightseeing Atlanta, it's great to catch up with Armand Morin again. He's fun, very successful online (8-figure sales a year) and smart. I mean, I know HE IS smart but didn't know he is THAT SMART. Know what I mean? (smile)

At the seminar, my presentation is called, "The Secret To My Autopilot Income". As how the title sounded, it means exactly what it is- making passive income by using automation.

First of all, you have to realize that marketing online has changed because of three main reasons – the web 2.0 effect, consumer behavior and finally, more competition in the market. So now you have to take these three considerations when starting or growing an internet business.

The key thing about being on top of your game is to make sure that you have a solid business model before anything else. And the business models that will interest me are those that can be automated.

That is why I've setup a site like www.successandlife.com because I can automate the main 2 components of making sure that this business will be profitable. They are content and traffic. If both of these can be automated, then I can be 'out' of the business and continue to collect the income each month.

Let's look closer...

There are a few ways how I've automated the content. The one I like is to outsource it completely. SuccessAndLife.com is a self help site. There are already thousands of useful content written or created by other experts which I can 'copy and paste'. Basically, I don’t need to create my own anymore. The only thing that I don't like about this method is the manual work involved but this is cleverly overcome by creating a content management system.

Unlike most of the websites you've seen, successandlife.com is manage by a one-access control panel. As a matter of fact, this is a Niche 2.0 Site.

So if this is a normal type of site, your outsource workers will need to 'copy and paste' the content on their computer and upload it to your hosting. Big problem. Never allow others that you don't know to access your hosting because they can mess up your entire site or hijack it.

Even if your site is web-based control, it can still be a problem because your outsource worker will access EVERYTHING on your site - your Adsense id, affiliate links, banner ads, content, etc.

But with a Niche 2.0 Site, I can create a personal limited access account for the outsource worker. Basically, he'll be able to login with HIS OWN username/password and that login will only limit him to put up new content (articles, videos, etc). He cannot access other part of the website or even edit the previous content published. This way, I don't have to worry about getting my site messed up or hijacked. On top of that, I’ll be able to monitor his work since I know he is solely responsible for his own tasks.

Then I'll hire other outsource workers to manage other features or portions of the website systematically.

My only work is to review their work. And I don't even need to do that regularly because it’s a mechanical job. Copy and paste. How hard can that get.

Next is the traffic and this is the easy one. The site has been structured and designed to be 100% search engine friendly. I'm getting free traffic everyday from hundreds of highly targeted keywords like self help articles, self help forum, self help video, quotes for success, anthony robbins video, personal improvement, self improvement article, creating wealth, good communications tips and so on.

The thing about search engine is this - most think that you'll need to be a SEO expert or something to achieve this. Although there are a lot of 'tricks' to get higher rank in google.com, but the main key point is relevancy. And of course, your site got to be a real site like successandlife.com and natural.

The final one is generating autopilot income - after automating the content and traffic source. With the so-called recession right now, what will be the best product to sell? I've shared this idea in my previous post that you can read by clicking here. The answer is - Advertisement.

And that's where the autopilot income comes in. Get paid not by selling a product but collecting ads fee. Yeah, you can make money by selling affiliate programs but you'll also taking the risk of not making money at all. But selling ads is different- you get paid no matter the advertiser is selling their products or not.

But still, that's not good enough...

New Keyword Tool

Today, I'll be blogging about Adwords. If you're new to my content and have no clue what I'm talking about, you can get all of the details from Google's site at www.google.com/adwords.

By now, you might have heard of Google's latest keyword feature made available. If you haven't, here's the scoop...

Previously, Google does not reveals the numbers of searches for a particular keyword so you won't know how much potential volume is the keyword you're bidding. With this new Google Adword Keyword Tool, you're no longer left in the dark.

With this tool alone, you'll be able to save so much money from other paid keyword tools. Here's the link:

Using Adwords and bypassing "Google Slap"

I think the best way to use Adwords is to generate leads or build a list by sending the traffic to a 'squeeze page'. A sample of what is a squeeze page can be found by clicking here.

Everyone was happy until Google had a new website evaluation system where they came up with a list of things to rank good quality websites. So a lot of people were penalized by it because their squeeze pages are not following the terms.

This is call the "Google Slap"-- a new quality score criteria algorithm that Google set for a lot of advertisers. The damage is this- if you're getting a click for only $0.10, it can suddenly jump to $5 a click! When that happens, it'll be impossible for you to continue advertising because your budget will not permit anymore.

But you don't have to worry. I'm going to share three ways below on how to have a 'good quality' squeeze page that will beat the "Google Slap":

First of all, a lot of people are really confused about landing pages and are convinced that Google is anti-squeeze page and anti-lead capturing. That's not true.

One of Google's policies is that, if you're offering something in your ad that's "free", it really must be free. So on your landing page, make sure you're giving something away for free. For instance, some ads say 'free bonus' but when the visitors goes to their landing pages, it's only free if they buy a product. That's NOT FREE without a catch.

THIS GOES THE SAME TO ANY DESCRIPTION YOU HAVE ON YOUR AD.

Believe it or not, Google doesn't like the salesletter format webpages that we, internet marketers like to use. The primary reason is because there aren't any navigational links and they think it’s difficult to browse around. So if you can, avoid hardcore salesletters as landing pages.

In your squeeze page, have a link on it to other of your webpages. This way, it makes your landing page seems to be like a website-- that it's not the only page. For me, I put an outgoing link from the squeeze page to my blog, making it more 'real'.

The last point is to use graphics on your squeeze page because Google will evaluate based on your graphics as well.

You see, they are more familiar with the standard website we've seen-- professional layout and so on. That is actually the type of design that Google prefers, simply because it's what they are accustomed to working with.

Having professional-- looking graphics whenever possible and a header or a professional graphic of an ecover definitely will increase your quality score.

Starbucks, Tai Chi, Halo 3, Baby And Basketball

In each incident and encounter we have, there are lessons to be learned – whether we take the time to look at it or not. Here are 5 observations and lessons that I like to share with you...

Starbucks 10 Seconds Rule

Do you know that Starbucks coffee baristas are instructed to throw away the coffee prepared if it's not being used within 10 seconds? So let's say you ordered a latte but somehow, he got delayed to mix the milk with the coffee. Bzzz, time's up. After 10 seconds, that coffee cannot be used anymore.

I believe this is one of the reasons why Starbucks coffee brewed is always fresh and it's maintained that way because they have a system. Yeah, the 10 seconds system. If you don't want to trade time for money, then you need to have a system or use someone else that is already proven to work.

Tai Chi Movement

I've started learning Tai Chi martial arts lately. One of the techniques I’ve learned is this-- no matter how hard you grab my hand, with the movement of my body, I will be able to break free easily. The reason is because I use leverage combined with a specific technique. When running your internet business, you MUST use the leverages that are available in front of you-- you can either waste hours to send out emails manually or use an autoresponder to send automatically. Leverage can do more than that-- Even if you're working at home alone, you can appear to be a million dollar company.

And just like Tai Chi, you got to apply the right techniques at the right time. Then you'll have a winner.

Xbox 360 – Halo 3

If you have no clue what’s Halo 3, it's a very well-known video game and you can check out their site at www.halo3.com. Once I started playing it, I couldn't stop because it is very addictive mainly because I want to know "what's next" after completing a level. Try playing it and you'll agree with me later on.

There's a very powerful marketing lesson to learn from it- the only way how you can get your prospect to read your salesletter or marketing messages 100% is to make it 'addictive'-- make your reader want to know more about your product by creating a sequence of "what's next". This should be applied to product launches as well.

What A Baby Wants

My brother's baby is 9 months old now. One thing I realize about babies- they know what they want and they'll do what they can to get it! That's the ultimate focus.

Once you found out what you want to do online, stay focus. Or if you're planning to learn a new business, then complete it 100%. I mean, did you see that a baby will ultimate gets what he/she wants with the intense focus? (smile)

Shooting Hoops Is Easy

Last week, I was playing basketball alone in my court, shooting the hoops. It was easy but after 30 minutes, it gets really boring because there's no competition. When someone's blocking me to shoot, it'll get MORE difficult and there's where the fun begins. Conclusion, games or sports are not fun if there are no challenges.

I used to whine when I'm facing obstacles for my internet businesses but when I start taking the metaphor of playing a game, I’m no longer that frustrated anymore. If you can treat doing business like playing a game, will you see things differently now?

You might think that this is like lying to yourself but if you just try it out, you'll soon realized that you're less stressful and better results will start to appear with a healthier mind. Look-- whether you're going to use the metaphor or not, you are STILL going to face those obstacles. They're unavoidable. So why not make the best out of it since there's nothing to lose.

From the last post, we get so many ideas on how to make money during recession-- which is a good sign.

But one point that most agree is all business owners and companies are focused on how to generate more sales for their business.

Not sure if you know this-- one of the overlooked methods of making money is the direct mail marketing. This 'underground' industry is so huge that those who are playing in it will laugh at internet marketer's income claims and opportunities.

Needless to say, this 'free' money makes me excited and curious to learn. I've been studying this quietly lately and I've found out a few 'secrets':

1. If you're wondering why you don't see old school marketer like Gary Bencivenga selling courses online is most likely he's making a killing in direct mail business. Some of his great copies are used in direct mail advertising.

2. The health and financial niches work very well in this business. Don't ask me why-- they just work. I know this after studying countless numbers of swipe files for hours-- most of them are related in any of these niches.

3. Many internet marketers are starting to be aware of this opportunity and currently using direct mail to promote their products, offline by mail. They might be selling how great to sell online but the truth is, they're selling offline.

4. If you know how to make money from direct mail, you'll definitely make it with internet marketing. The late Corey Rudl (I'll consider him as the pioneer for teaching internet marketing) learned from Jay Abraham and Dan Kennedy-- both offline direct marketing gurus. Then he applied to internet marketing.

5. It'll work regardless of recession or not-- you just need to know what and how to sell.

But it gets more powerful when you integrate internet marketing and direct mail marketing. Use your internet marketing knowledge to get subscribers with their full addresses. Instead of emailing offer to them as usual, send your offer through direct mail like letters or postcards. Then tell me your result. I'm sure you'll make more.

Or forget about internet marketing. You can place ads in newspapers, print flyers, etc to generate leads.

Some might say, it's expensive. It is if you don't know how to make money or master this business. It's just like, buying ads are expensive if you don't know what to sell, where to advertise and how to write ads. But if you know, it's no longer a cost but profit because each dollar that you throw out will bring back more money.

I know of a company that sells forex trading service to his client. They'll run ads and get prospects to attend a free seminar that serve food in a 5-star hotel.

Obviously, there are cost incurred for the ad, food and venue. But they just need A CLIENT to say 'yes' and they'll already be in profit. I know it sounds ridiculous. So is it still expensive? Not anymore because that company usually ends up with more than a client.

Like I said, there are people who made over $100,00,000 (no typo) dollars and they are just like you and me-- not some sort of big corporations with 10,000 square feet office or 100 staff. As a matter of fact, these people run their businesses at home without any fix employees.

What I’ll Do To Make Money In Recession...

Most part of the countries is expecting recession. Whether you're experiencing it personally or not, that's another story but this matter is important because it will AFFECT how you make money online.

(Note that affecting does not means you're making less money-- knowing how to leverage on it will make you more.)

The question is, how you turn it around to your advantage?

I've figured mine out and feel free to take this idea to work out a plan for yourself:

When economy goes down, where do you think business owners and companies will spend their money on?

Advertising.

And that's where I want to be- to sell advertisements to prospects and collect fix monthly fee.

If you have a content site, start taking advertisers. If you have a blog, you can do the same as well and charge a premium. To get advertisers, you can either get them directly or use third party websites to hook you up with advertisers. There are a lot of them out there, just search in Google.com.

Generally, there are two main selling points-- traffic or high Page Rank. If you don't have any sites with any of those two, there's still another way how to do this.

Become an advertising broker. Match the advertisers (those who wants to advertise) and publishers (those with websites that accept advertisers) to earn commission, just like how a real estate agent works. You don't need a website, mailing list or spend a single cent to do this. Email and a phone. Now, you got to figure out the nitty gritty stuff yourself because I'm running through ideas with you-- not writing a step-by-step ebook here.

Instead of rambling how bad the recession's going to be, I like to invite you to think this-- how you can take advantage of this matter and make even more money online.
